Outpatient X-ray procedure used to evaluate whether the fallopian tubes are open and whether the inside of the uterus is normal. The uterus is filled with iodine-containing contrast through a cannula while fluoroscopic images are taken. Usually performed after the menstrual period ends but before ovulation. Patients can generally return to normal activities immediately afterward, although some doctors recommend avoiding intercourse for a few days.
