Comprehensive assessment of upper limb function, including movement, strength and sensation, followed by an individualised treatment plan. Evaluation may include the muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves of the hand, wrist and elbow, using specific clinical or functional tests. Treatment is tailored to the condition and may include splinting and orthoses, massage, joint mobilisation, scar and swelling management, home exercise programmes, strengthening, ultrasound, TENS, heat treatment, acupuncture, kinesio-taping, pressure garments, sensory re-education, dressing changes, wound checks, education and advice for returning to previous activities.
