Details.
A soft tissue graft surgically covers exposed tooth roots to control and prevent further gum recession and damage to surrounding teeth and bone structure. The procedure may improve smile appearance and sensitivity to heat and cold, and can treat one or several adjacent teeth. Tissue may be taken from the roof of the mouth, a tissue bank, or nearby gum tissue. Connective tissue grafts, free gingival grafts, and pedicle grafts are available depending on the patient’s needs. The graft is stitched into place, and PRGF or PRF may be used to assist tissue regeneration and healing.
