Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy performed under sedation to examine the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. Biopsies and pictures may be taken if required. Indications may include abdominal pain, bloating, reflux symptoms, vomiting or bleeding. Patients normally go home the same day and should avoid driving for 24 hours after the procedure.
