Details.
A sterile hyaluronic acid gel injected into the knee to improve joint lubrication and cushioning. The radiologist explains the procedure and confirms consent, cleans the knee, and may use local anaesthetic. Ultrasound guides a fine needle into the joint, followed by a slow Euflexxa injection and application of a small dressing. It may suit adults with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis whose pain persists after exercise therapy and simple pain medicines, people who cannot have or prefer to avoid cortisone or frequent anti-inflammatory tablets, and patients aiming to reduce pain and maintain function while delaying surgery. No special preparation is required. Eat and drink as normal, wear clothing that allows easy access to the knee, bring your referral and Medicare card, and advise the clinic about blood thinners, allergies, or any prior joint infection. Plan light activity for the rest of the day. Most courses involve three injections one week apart.
