Details.
Descemet's Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty replaces the damaged Descemet's membrane and endothelium layer with micro-thin donor tissue secured with a gas bubble. The outpatient procedure typically lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes. It offers few sutures, faster visual recovery, improved vision, and a low rejection rate of 1 percent. Patients who are not candidates may include those with complex anterior segment anatomy, previous retina detachment repair, or glaucoma surgeries.
