A minimally invasive keyhole procedure used to examine the abdomen and pelvis, particularly where imaging such as ultrasound has not provided all the answers. It can identify endometriosis implants and lesions, adhesions, ovarian cysts, fibroids and structural abnormalities of the uterus or tubes. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and may be a day case or involve an overnight hospital stay. Recovery commonly includes temporary bloating or shoulder discomfort, with many patients returning to desk work and light activities within one to two weeks.
