Details.
A cavity treatment that removes tooth decay and fills the affected tooth to help prevent additional decay and restore normal function. Options include silver-colour, gold, white composite, glass ionomer and porcelain fillings. The procedure includes an examination, X-ray, local anaesthetic when needed, removal of decay, filling placement, polishing and bite assessment. Most fillings take an hour or less, while a simple filling can be completed in about 20 minutes. Larger or multiple fillings may require more time or a second appointment. Mild soreness or sensitivity may occur after treatment, and extremely hot or cold foods and beverages should be avoided for up to two days.
