Custom crowns, also known as caps, cemented onto existing teeth to restore their form and function. Crowns may be recommended for badly broken, cracked, worn or decayed teeth, and for root canal treated teeth. Available in all-metal, all-ceramic, or ceramic and metal combinations. Two appointments are needed, including tooth preparation, an impression, a temporary crown and placement of the permanent crown. Meticulous oral hygiene is required after placement.
