An internal ultrasound performed transvaginally. Allow at least one hour for the appointment and arrive 15 minutes beforehand. Preparation includes taking a stool softener the night before and completing an enema 1 to 2 hours before the scan. Bring your original referral, Medicare card, and any previous scans or reports. You can eat and drink on the day, but do not eat after the enema. A comprehensive report will be sent to your doctor within 48 hours. Speak to the booking team if a transvaginal scan is not appropriate, as alternate preparation instructions may be needed.
