An investigation that enables the doctor to examine the inside of the bladder and urethra using a special viewing catheter. The bladder is slowly filled with sterile water so the doctor can assess its lining and identify issues such as stones, infection, bleeding, tumours or structural abnormalities. Performed in a sterile environment as a day surgery patient, with local anaesthetic when performed after urodynamic testing. There is no special preparation, including no fasting. Increase fluid intake after the procedure and attend the arranged follow-up appointment.
