CT Scan

at Lumus Imaging Victoria · Melbourne

Details.

A computed tomography scanner uses X-rays to create multi-dimensional images of a specific area to help diagnose medical conditions. Contrast media may be injected to provide further detail. CT scans can examine internal organs, blood vessels, bones and joints. The procedure is non-invasive and may require changing into a gown, having a cannula inserted for contrast, and briefly holding your breath. Drink plenty of fluids the day before and arrive 15 minutes before the appointment. If contrast is used, drink more fluids after the scan. Regular medications can usually be continued, diagnostic CT scans do not require sedation, and most patients can resume their regular diet and activities afterwards unless advised otherwise by their referring doctor.
