CT Coronary Angiography

at Capital Radiology · Melbourne

Details.

A non-invasive CT examination of the coronary arteries. Contrast is injected into a vein in the arm to examine the blood vessels supplying the heart. It can assess chest pain and shortness of breath, investigate an inconclusive stress test, assess coronary disease risk, identify or rule out coronary artery disease, assess bypass grafts, and identify other cardiac abnormalities. A booking is required. You can eat and drink normally beforehand, but should avoid caffeine, continue usual medications, and avoid Viagra or Levitra for 72 hours prior or Cialis for one week prior. Bring your referral form, Medicare card, pension or concession card, and any prior imaging. A radiologist and cardiologist interpret the examination, with results generally sent to your doctor within 24 hours. An out-of-pocket fee applies in most cases, while pension or concession card holders are bulk billed.
