A procedure performed at Epworth Hospital when PCI has not successfully improved blood flow. A small stainless steel mesh tube is guided to the blocked or narrowed coronary artery to realign the artery. The artery wall heals around the stent, which remains in place to reinforce it. Preparation is similar to coronary angiography and angioplasty.
