Treatment for keratoconus using riboflavin eye drops and ultraviolet A light exposure. Performed under topical anaesthesia, with partial removal of the corneal surface, 30 minutes of riboflavin drops followed by 30 minutes of UVA exposure. Antibiotic drops, a bandage contact lens and an eye shield are used after treatment. Oral analgesics are required for the first 1 to 2 days. Follow-up includes visits soon after treatment, then at one month, three months, six months and one year, followed by annual reviews. Contact lenses may be worn again after one month.
