Details.

A procedure to examine the inside of the colon using a flexible telescope, used to investigate symptoms such as pain, diarrhoea, bleeding or changes in bowel habit. Biopsies may be taken and polyps are usually removed during the procedure if found. Performed under anaesthetic by a specialist anaesthetist. Preparation includes following the provided dietary and PicoPrep or PicoSalax bowel-cleansing instructions. The procedure takes between 25 and 45 minutes, followed by recovery and assessment before discharge.
