Chemical Verrucae Treatment

at Burchell and Associates · London

Details.

Podiatrist-applied chemical treatments for verrucae. One treatment uses 70% salicylic acid in a lanolin base, with the area masked and covered by a felt pad to reduce pressure. The foot needs to be kept dry for 1 to 2 weeks, and treatment is usually repeated on a two week cycle until the affected cells are removed. A second chemical treatment is available for small or isolated verrucae, requiring the area to be kept dry for 24 hours. It can be painful for a few days, with a follow-up normally scheduled after two weeks to remove dead skin and reapply treatment if necessary.
