Details.

Uses radioactive tracers to capture images of the heart and assess blood flow, tissue health, and coronary artery blockages. May be combined with CT imaging as a PET/CT scan. Doctors may use it to diagnose coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart valve disorders, or to track treatment effectiveness. Before the procedure, advise your doctor about medications and medical conditions. Do not eat for up to 3 hours or consume caffeinated beverages for up to 24 hours before the test. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, may be pregnant, or nursing. After the scan, drink fluids if advised and arrange a follow-up appointment to discuss the results.
