Ultrasound-guided Arthrosamid hydrogel injection for people with knee osteoarthritis experiencing pain and swelling that may affect daily activities. The treatment includes clinical examination, diagnostic ultrasound assessment, drainage of excess joint fluid if needed at no extra cost, local anaesthetic, and precise injection into the synovial cavity. Written consent and online medical screening are required before booking. Patients usually need an X-ray or MRI scan of the knee within the previous 12 months. Preventative oral antibiotics are required 1 to 2 hours before the injection. Patients should avoid driving or cycling home, and strenuous exercise such as running, tennis or long walks for 10 to 14 days afterwards. The service is available privately across UK clinics and is not currently available on the NHS.
