A prompt, structured assessment for acutely unwell children, available in clinic or, where appropriate, online. Includes discussion of symptoms, onset and progression, relevant medical history and steps taken at home, followed by a thorough clinical examination including vital signs and temperature. The consultation provides an explanation of clinical findings, a diagnosis or working assessment where possible, management advice, safety-netting guidance and follow-up based on clinical need. Prescriptions, onward referral or further investigations may be arranged where clinically appropriate. This is not an emergency service.
