Details.
Evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding includes a review of your medical history and symptoms, a pelvic exam with a Pap test, and may include pregnancy, blood, thyroid, hormone, pelvic ultrasound, or endometrial biopsy testing. A hysteroscopic exam may also be recommended to examine the inside of the uterus. Treatment depends on the cause and may include hormone treatments, birth control, progestin shots or implants, intrauterine devices, anti-inflammatory medicines, or minimally invasive surgery.
