Study Skills Workshops

Free academic skills workshops for all PIA students, delivered on campus or virtually throughout the teaching period. Sessions run for 30 to 60 minutes and cover reading, research and study skills, academic English, academic writing, referencing, presentations, examination preparation, time management and organisation. Workshops are delivered each semester, with opportunities to ask questions about assignments and other academic issues.

Academic Support Consultations

Group or individual academic learning support is available for students seeking assistance that is not degree specific. The Academic Learning Support Officer is available Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with bookings made by email.

At-risk Intervention

Academic support meetings are conducted every semester for students identified as being at risk, helping them progress satisfactorily with their studies and complete assessments. Support may include a student learning agreement, assistance from teaching staff and the Academic Support Officer, and ongoing monitoring.

Student Mentor Program

An informal and relaxed program designed to help commencing international students transition into PIA and study life. Student mentors meet, motivate and engage with commencing international students while developing leadership skills and connections within the PIA community.

Harman Foundation Seminars

PIA promotes Harman Foundation seminars as an additional external support service for students. The Foundation supports people affected by emotional trauma, anxiety, stress and unforeseen circumstances, and offers or refers students to services including crisis support, bereavement services, family and food support, peer support and a 24-hour helpline.
