Third Trimester Ultrasound (Growth Scan / Biophysical Profile) Our third trimester ultrasound is designed to assess your baby's growth, development, and overall wellbeing during the later stages of pregnancy. Depending on your clinical needs, your appointment may include a Growth Scan, a Biophysical Profile (BPP), or both. A Growth Scan measures your baby's size, estimates fetal weight, monitors growth over time, assesses amniotic fluid levels, and evaluates your baby's position and placenta. A Biophysical Profile (BPP) is a more comprehensive assessment that evaluates your baby's well being by observing breathing movements, body movements, muscle tone, amniotic fluid levels, and, when indicated, fetal heart rate monitoring. This scan is commonly recommended for mothers with high-risk pregnancies, reduced fetal movements, medical conditions, growth concerns, or when your healthcare provider would like additional reassurance about your baby's wellbeing. Your scan will be performed by an experienced sonographer, and the findings will be reviewed with you before you leave your appointment.
