Lester Y. Leung, MD, MSc is a vascular neurologist (stroke specialist), clinical investigator, and medical educator. He is the Chief of the Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases Division, Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Tufts Medical Center, and Founder and Director of the Stroke and Young Adults (SAYA) Program. He has specific clinical expertise in the identification and management of late complications after stroke (LCAS) such as post-stroke epilepsy, lethargy, movement disorders, cognitive impairment, central pain syndrome, mood disorders, etc., as well as strategies to advance recovery from stroke at all stages. He also has extensive experience in the management of stroke risk in pregnancy, migraine-related causes of stroke, hypercoagulable states, intracranial atherosclerosis, and fibromuscular dysplasia. He is interested in improving prehospital identification and management of stroke, addressing disparities in stroke care, and improving the care and post-stroke outcomes of young adults with stroke. He sees patients in the Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases Clinic (Boston) and the Stroke and Young Adults (SAYA) Program.
