Fire drills are held monthly as required by the Child Care and Early Years Act. Staff practise their escape routines, and records of the drills are kept by the Director.

Birthday Celebrations

Every child's birthday is celebrated in their room. The cook provides a cake served to the class during afternoon snack, and parents are welcome to join. Loot bags and birthday gifts are not distributed at the daycare.

Field Trips and Community Outings

Field trips and community outings are part of programming for all age groups, with older classes generally taking more trips. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are encouraged to participate. Trip costs are usually included in the daycare budget, although special programs may have an additional cost. Written consent is required for transportation or extended trips.
