London Open Gardens Weekend

Ticket-holders can explore more than 100 London gardens that are usually closed to the public during the annual London Open Gardens weekend on June 7 and 8. The event also offers 33 guided walks and two cycle tours. Tickets cost £26.40 for adults and £11 for children aged 12 to 17. Younger children can participate for free. Tickets are available from londongardenstrust.org.

Garden square committee subscription

£55 per year for garden square committees. The fee guarantees five copies of each issue are delivered to the committee’s designated recipient. For many squares, the magazine is also able to deliver copies to residents living around the square.

A touring production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew performed in 28 London communal gardens and open spaces. The not-for-profit company works with garden committees and local organisations to create an intimate experience for each community. The next year's production is Love's Labour's Lost.

Growing Space gardening sessions

Children are encouraged to use gardening tools and child-sized watering cans while learning how to plan a garden, pot, sow, prune and harvest vegetables, herbs and fruit. They are also shown how to cook meals. The project uses Montessori techniques to encourage young people to connect with nature.

Annual open gardens weekend sponsored by the London Parks and Gardens Trust, giving visitors the opportunity to visit communal gardens and see their features. The 2024 open days included jazz at Earl's Court Square, a children's mud mountain and moveable chess board at Queen's Gate Gardens, a wildflower meadow and insect-attracting devices at Belgrave Square, and a garden rules poster at Crescent Garden.
