Shostakovich's From Jewish Folk Poetry, sung in the poetry's original Yiddish, and twisted Russian folktales reinterpreted by emerging composer Alex Malinas explore the duality of being home and yet not home. The program also includes new music by Andrea Casarrubios, Stella G. Gitelman Willoughby, Mary Bianco and David Garner. Performers include Carina Kahane, soprano, Melinda Martinez Becker, mezzo-soprano, Alex Malinas, narrator, Aria Shum, violin, Taylor Robinson, flute and piccolo, Zoe King, clarinet, and Eddie Virtgaym, percussion.
