Mentor Compensation

CSA mentors receive room and board in University housing, a $2,000 summer salary, and a tuition waiver for one four-credit class at the Harvard Summer School. The Harvard Summer School class must fit into the mentor’s assigned individual CSA schedule. Mentors are expected to work an average of 25-30 hours per week.

Full Scholarships

Successful applicants receive full financial support for tuition, room and board, as well as a stipend of $800 for the first summer and a weekly stipend of $200 during the second and third summers. Crimson Scholars who successfully complete the three-year program are awarded a $3,000 scholarship for use at the college or university of their choice. The opportunity is for eligible public school students in Boston, Cambridge, or Somerville who currently attend ninth grade and have been nominated by a principal, teacher, or guidance counselor. Continued participation in later summers depends on successful completion of the prior summer and continued enrollment in a public school system.

A three-summer educational program for nominated public school students who attend ninth grade in Boston, Cambridge, or Somerville. Students engage in classes, projects, cultural activities, career exploration fieldwork, mentoring, and Harvard Summer School courses. Accepted students receive full financial support for tuition, room and board, plus stated stipends.
