BABY STEPS: Beginners Line Dance Classes

Beginner-friendly queer line dancing classes for girls, gays, theys and allies, teaching 12 classes and 24 dances. The course ranges from beginner to improver, with harder dances towards the end. It offers a space to learn, make mistakes, ask questions and have fun, while exploring country culture and music alongside pop, hip-hop and R'n'B. Classes take place in the Studio, apart from 15 June, when they are in the Goss Room. Free tickets are available for carers and access companions by arranging via Instagram.

Dance in a Day - Lindy Hop

A beginner workshop in Lindy Hop, offered in partnership with Swing Patrol. Learn the key principles and moves of Lindy Hop in a relaxed and friendly environment. The partnered dance requires participants to sign up as a lead or follow, with roles rotated during the sessions. No experience is necessary. The schedule includes introductions to Six Beat Lindy Hop, Eight Beat Lindy Hop and Lindy Charleston, with breaks between sessions.

A relaxed evening of social dancing for adults of all levels of confidence and experience. The evening includes a 15-minute solo taster routine, Ballroom and Latin dances, line dances, sequence dances and alternative rhythms such as Salsa. Dance Hosts are available to lead or follow, and no partner is needed. This is not a class. The event runs for three hours and includes a card-only bar. Tickets are £14 or £12 concessionary in advance, and £16 on the door. No sharp heels are permitted.

Pink Jukebox

A Ballroom and Latin dance club for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their friends. Classes for all levels, from absolute beginners to more experienced dancers, take place from 14:00 to 16:30, followed by social dancing until 19:00. The social session includes standard Ballroom and Latin dances, alternative rhythms, and line and sequence dances. Tickets are £14 in advance or £12 for Pink Jukebox members, and £16 on the door or £14 for members. Members must show their membership cards. Events are for over-18s only.

UK Fetish Archive Open Day

Drop in to explore the UK Fetish Archive collection of magazines, pamphlets, posters, ephemera, t-shirts and artefacts at your own pace. Visitors can also bring ephemera, magazines, books, photos, video, audio, artefacts or documents to contribute to the archive. Free entry, but advance booking is required. Walk-ins may be accommodated if capacity allows. The event is for people aged 18 and over.

The Pink Dancers, an LGBTQIA+ Ballroom and Latin demonstration team, host an inclusive night of social dancing at the Great Hall, with a performance of their brand new routine inspired by the swinging era. Dress in all things 1960s. The event is for over-18s only, with a licensed, card-only bar and free drinking water. Capacity is strictly limited.
