Adoration

An opera adapted from Atom Egoyan's film of the same name. Adoration follows Simon, an orphaned high school student whose fictional story about a historical terrorist attack goes viral, exposing intolerance, racism, family strife, and rejection of something foreign. The production was commissioned, developed, produced, and premiered by Beth Morrison Projects.

Aging Magician

A multidisciplinary music-theatre work featuring sonic and visual elements, a string quartet and a choir of young people. The work follows Harold from the surgical repair of a timepiece to a magic show of time itself, combining music, theatre, puppetry, instrument making and scenic design. It features vocalist Rinde Eckert, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Attacca String Quartet and original musical instruments by Mark Stewart.

Anatomy Theater

A contemporary reflection on the historical spiritual carnival of anatomy theater, following an English murderess from confession to execution, denouncement, and dissection. The production features images of bodies and environments projected on scrims, four singers portraying a lecturer, demonstrator, anatomy hall caretaker, and corpse, nine musicians, and text drawn from surviving documents and period moral tracts.

Each audience member receives a handmade book by artist Kathryn Hamilton with special artifacts corresponding to each piece, expanding the experience beyond the usual sight and sound. The program features works by contemporary composers, curated and directed by Beth Morrison and Paola Prestini.
