The cost of a standard 50-minute session is $260. If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $149.05, making the out-of-pocket expense $110.95 per session. A Mental Health Care Plan entitles you to up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year. To process a rebate, a copy of your Mental Health Care Plan and referral letter from your GP are required. Sessions may also be claimable under private health insurance, depending on your level of cover. You cannot receive a Medicare rebate and also claim under private health.
