PMI centres provide free services while respecting anonymity. Services include pregnancy consultations, individual or couple interviews during the first trimester, prescriptions for additional examinations when needed, referral for the first ultrasound, support in choosing a maternity unit, support before and after birth, childbirth preparation sessions in some centres, home visits and home assistance when required. For children under 6, services include medical consultations, growth and development monitoring, vaccinations, childcare advice, home visits when necessary, weighing and childcare advice without an appointment at most centres, and appointments with a PMI psychologist when needed. The health assessment for four-year-olds at nursery school is also free and funded by the Department.
