Victorian Government Free Kinder payments are deducted from childcare fees for three and four-year-old children in integrated long day care kindergarten programs, saving over $2,000 per year for each year of a kindergarten program. For an integrated Three-Year-Old Kindergarten program of less than 600 hours per year, Free Kinder is applied on a pro-rata basis. From 2026, children in listed four-year-old priority groups can access up to 25 hours of free kindergarten. Priority groups include children who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, children from a refugee or asylum seeker background, and children who have had contact with Child Protection.
