Details.
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program knocks roughly 30% off the cost of an eligible home battery, currently around $252 per usable kWh from May 2026. The rebate is applied upfront by the installer, stacks with the standard STC solar rebate, and has no income test. The battery must be paired with new or existing solar and be on the Clean Energy Council's approved product list. The rebate runs through to 2030 and tapers down each year.
