Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF is seeking a scientific-artistic professor for the Bachelor's and Master's programme in Sound Engineering for Audiovisual Media, starting 1 October 2024. Duties include teaching acoustics and audio technology, including audio signal processing, audio programming, electroacoustics, room and studio acoustics, musical acoustics and psychoacoustics; supervising student media projects and theses; contributing to interdisciplinary teaching; conducting research in current areas of acoustics and audio technology; initiating and participating in research projects; supporting artistic qualification projects; and contributing to academic self-governance, committee work and programme reform. The position is permanent under Brandenburg higher education law, with an initial five-year limited appointment in the case of a first appointment, subject to permanent appointment after positive evaluation. Requirements include a completed academic or scientific-artistic higher education degree in acoustics, audio communication, audio technology, electrical engineering and sound engineering, or a comparable field; pedagogical and didactic aptitude demonstrated through higher education teaching; artistic qualification demonstrated through sound-related artistic works; scientific qualification normally demonstrated through a doctorate or comparable achievements; and additional outstanding subject-related practical achievements. Expected qualifications include experience with forward-looking audio technologies and programming, experience developing and implementing audio projects, communication and social skills, good written and spoken English with willingness to teach in English, experience with online teaching, and expertise in acquiring third-party funding. The teaching commitment is 12 SWS.
