Based in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Vessel Manager is the main point of contact with the vessel's Principal, the ship's Master, officers, and crew. The role is responsible for managing ship agency requirements associated with vessel port calls, including ship operations, compliance with U.S. and state regulations, pricing, contracting, expense approval, and risk management. The Vessel Manager independently oversees agency vessel operations as the general contractor. Requirements include working independently, completing company and Association of Ship Broker and Agents testing, problem solving and independent judgment, boarding ships at anchor and dockside, working irregular hours including rotational weekend duty and evenings, strong organizational and communication skills, a valid driver's license and good driving record, lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds, and effective communication with domestic and international individuals.
