Teen volunteers in grades 8-12 and under age 18 help return books, movies, and other materials to library shelves. The role requires strong attention to detail, alphabetization skills, and the ability to learn the Dewey Decimal system and library-specific collection labels. Main Library shelvers are assigned to specific areas, while branch shelvers work throughout their library. Shelvers commit to a regular schedule within a set time window and report to their site supervisor. Volunteer hours are subject to availability, and applying does not guarantee a position or a specific number of hours.
