Provide individually tailored, person-centred care and support to help people with learning disabilities live as independently as possible in their community. Duties include providing physical, practical, social and emotional support, assisting with personal care, medication, health appointments and leisure activities, implementing support plans, supporting independent living skills and maintaining accurate records. The role involves working as part of a team, liaising with professionals, attending meetings and training, acting as a keyworker, and working shifts including weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. Essential criteria include some experience in a caring role, understanding of equality and diversity, confidentiality, person-centred support, safeguarding, communication, teamwork, record keeping, physical support and the ability to travel, work shifts and cover emergencies. NVQ 2 in Care or similar, experience with people with learning disabilities or complex needs, and the ability to drive are desirable.
