Details.
The Transportation Career Academy Program provides summer internship opportunities to current high school juniors and seniors in the class of 2026 or 2027. Eligible students must depend on transit, reside in Los Angeles County, live near a Metro rail station, and attend a school near Metro rail expansion efforts. Interns explore careers in transportation, connect classroom learning to real-world work situations, gain on-the-job experience in a career or technical area, and establish a professional mentorship relationship. The program includes mandatory in-person training each Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, an orientation on June 18, 2026, virtual project team sessions at least twice weekly for seven weeks, and final project presentations on July 31, 2026. Students who successfully complete all program requirements earn a stipend. Applicants must be 16 to 18 years old, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better, and be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally authorized to work in the United States.
