The San Francisco AHEC Scholars program is for health professional students who want to supplement their education by partnering with Community Health Centers to improve the health of underserved San Francisco residents. The program enables high-potential students to explore primary care provision and the community healthcare model through an interdisciplinary lens while connecting with organizations that strengthen the public health safety net of San Francisco and surrounding cities. Eligibility extends to students enrolled in medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, CNA, physician assistant, social work, psychology, and public or population health programs. A one-year option is available for community health workers, medical assistants, and health education specialists. The 2025-2026 cohort is currently at capacity, applications will be reviewed periodically, and new Scholars are expected to be recruited in Spring 2026 with anticipated enrollment in August 2026. Start date is August 2026 or as soon as possible after successfully completing the application and interview process.
