The ScholCommLab and the SFU Institute for the Study of Teaching and Learning in the Disciplines are seeking a research assistant for the Dewey Fellowship project Encouraging and Supporting Discussions Through Online Annotations. Responsibilities include identifying faculty members interested in using annotations, creating a pitch deck, organizing and delivering presentations, designing and administering student surveys, and analysing survey results. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at SFU and have excellent interpersonal, oral communication, written communication, and presentation skills, as well as experience teaching or running discussion-based tutorials. Experience with survey and other instrument design, basic qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and online annotations, especially Hypothes.is, is desirable. The appointment is for 50 hours, with the potential to extend for another 50 hours in the 2019 Spring term. Salary is $25 per hour, including vacation and statutory holiday pay, with no medical or dental benefits. The position starts as soon as possible.
