People undergoing an equivalence assessment for a foreign pedagogical qualification may be recognised as career changers until the requirements for state recognition are fulfilled, provided they can demonstrate German language skills at level B2. Conditions from the equivalence decision must be fulfilled within three years. The recognition procedure is mandatory.
