Work in a childcare facility with a related professional or academic background. The usual requirements are an intermediate school-leaving qualification, a completed three-year pedagogical technical school qualification and six months of relevant professional experience. People whose first language is not German should generally demonstrate German at C1 level. The recognition procedure is mandatory. A basic course for entry into the educator profession must be completed within the first 18 months, followed where applicable by an advanced course within 36 months.
