Eligible related professional groups include graduates of education, teaching, psychology, sports, art, theatre, music, speech therapy and comparable programmes, as well as family carers, language and integration specialists, paediatric nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, sports therapists, childcare workers and curative education nurses without an additional qualification. A secondary school qualification, completed three-year specialist pedagogical training and six months of relevant professional experience are generally required. People whose first language is not German should generally demonstrate German at C1 level. Recognition as a career changer is mandatory, and eligible applicants complete the Basic Career Change Course within the first 18 months of starting work.
