People with related qualifications such as education, teaching, psychology, sports, art, theatre or music pedagogy, speech therapy, child nursing, occupational therapy, speech therapy, childcare or special needs care may be recognised as career changers. Requirements generally include an intermediate school-leaving certificate, a completed three-year specialist pedagogical training and six months of relevant professional experience. German language skills at level C1 are generally expected for people whose first language is not German. Recognition and further training are required.
