Eligible related professions include qualifications in educational science, teaching, psychology, sports, art, theatre, music, speech therapy, family care, healthcare and childcare. A secondary school qualification, completed three-year pedagogical specialist training and six months of relevant professional practice are generally required. People whose first language is not German should generally demonstrate German language skills at C1 level. Within the first 18 months of employment, participants complete the Basiskurs-Quereinstieg, with some qualifications followed by an advanced course within 36 months. Successful completion can lead to recognition as a social pedagogical professional.
