Oapl has a new opportunity for a Prosthetic/Orthotic Technician to join the team in Slacks Creek, Queensland. The position suits someone with experience or someone seeking Technician or Workshop experience. The role requires a self-motivated person who can work autonomously and as part of a team, while receiving instructions from Prosthetists and Orthotists. Responsibilities include manufacturing, fabricating, repairing, modifying and maintaining prosthetic limbs and orthotic devices, using a range of materials, processes and techniques, troubleshooting workshop issues and adhering to workplace safety requirements. Applicants should be willing to learn new techniques and fabrication methods, be practical with good attention to detail, and have a positive attitude and work ethic. Previous experience as a Prosthetic/Orthotic Technician is highly regarded but not essential. Sound knowledge of workshop machinery is required, with practical knowledge of manufacturing techniques including plastic work, fibreglass and carbon lamination. Finishing skills such as buffing, grinding and sewing are advantageous but not mandatory.
