Eckersley O'Callaghan is seeking a Project Engineer for its London office with a strong background in structural engineering, facade system detailing and an interest in building envelopes. The role reports to the specialist structures Group Director and involves collaborating with clients, architects and engineering consultants to develop facade design solutions; producing sketches, reports and specifications; developing solutions using structural steel, aluminium, timber and structural glass; using structural analysis and 3D modelling software; carrying out site inspections, factory visits, mock-up and testing inspections; preparing technical reports; attending workshops, design team meetings and site meetings; contributing to knowledge sharing and internal research and development; managing external relationships; and maintaining technical knowledge. Applicants should have a good degree in structural engineering, preferably with a relevant postgraduate degree, 2 or more years of facade design and detailing experience, an understanding of facade engineering principles, strong communication and collaboration skills, experience with non-standard facades, an interest in detailed analytical design, working knowledge of BS and EN standards, and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines. Preferred attributes include working towards chartered membership, experience with CAD and 3D modelling tools, project experience from concept through completion, knowledge of relevant design and FEM software, and a keen interest in architecture with a willingness to travel.
