Western Sydney Community Legal Centre is seeking expressions of interest for participation in its Practical Legal Training Program. Participants will develop professional legal practice skills, competencies and knowledge, gain work experience in a legal practice in a social justice environment, and complete the practical component of a PLT course. The role suits people passionate about helping vulnerable and disadvantaged communities navigate the legal system, with a community mindset and willingness to learn from legal specialists. Applicants must commit to a 60 day placement of at least 2 days per week on a voluntary basis, demonstrate initiative, problem solving and critical thinking, have excellent written, communication, administrative, digital, legal research and analytical skills, achieve highly in their law studies, and be empathetic, caring and people-centred. The placement includes attendance at WSCLC offices in Parramatta and Rooty Hill, as well as community-based outreach and Local Court locations in Western Sydney, under supervision.
