Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients as they practice exercises or functional activities. Document patient information. Confer with physical therapy staff to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment. Instruct patients in proper body mechanics and ways to improve functional mobility. Observe patients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on their responses and progress and provide results to physical therapists. Communicate with caregivers or family members about patient therapeutic activities and treatment plans. A bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Exercise Sciences, or Physical Therapy and a State of New York Physical Therapist Assistant License are required. The position is 40 hours per week and pays $75,000 per year.
